About this course

With effect from 1st February 2025, anyone wanting to renew their security licence in the UK needs to have passed a recognised qualification. The Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) course is a nationally recognised qualification designed for those who currently hold a license from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a security officer and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements.

Entry Requirements – all candidates must hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. A copy of your certificate must be provided to us before attending the course.

Each learner must be sufficiently competent in the use of the English language and will be required to sit an English proficiency test before attending the course if not able to provide evidence of the required standard. Please see our policy attached and contact us if you have any concerns.

Principles of Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)

  • Know how to conduct effective search procedures
  • Understand how to keep vulnerable people safe
  • Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat

On confirmation of your booking you will sent the course workbook for your perusal before attending. You should bring this with you on the day so you can refer to it if necessary.

How is it Assessed?

Principles of Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) – This unit is assessed by practical assessment and a multiple choice examination. The practical assessment will be the observation of searching and using communication devices. The assessments will be visually recorded.

The multiple choice examination consists of 28 questions.
